Training course on irradiation devices design and operation and reactor physics experiments
Course: April 27-29, 2009
Scope
Goal
The goal of this course is to make the participants acquainted with the basic ideas behind the workings of an experimental nuclear reactor and the design and operation of irradiation devices.
Objectives
The participants will get a basic training on reactor kinetics, sub-critical approach and temperature coefficient determination. From hands-on experiments on the BR1 reactor, they will study these topics in a more practical manner. They will also focus on the design and operation of in-pile-devices for the BR2 reactor, including a.o. experimental loops and rigs for the irradiation testing of fuels and reactor materials.
Intended audience
This course is mainly intended for the members of the MTR-I3 project.
