Scientific Prize SCK•CEN Prof. Roger VAN GEEN

The Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK•CEN) awards a biennial prize to encourage the collaboration between Belgian universities and research institutes, as well as to support scientific research in nuclear sciences.

The prize is intended for an original scientific contribution or important advancement in the field of nuclear energy and/or radiation. The submitted work should be linked to the scope of research of the SCK-CEN, namely: nuclear safety and radioprotection, nuclear fuel cycle, medical and industrial applications of radiation, and integration of societal aspects in nuclear research.

Candidates need to hold a postdoctoral position at a Flemish university or at one of the nine universities of the French Community of Belgium. Candidates should hold the nationality of a Member State of the European Union and should not exceed the age of 45.

Submission date: 15 May 2009 (biennial).

The prize amounts to € 12,500.
