| MYRRHA |
The MYRRHA project SCK•CEN Mol has been working for several years on the design of a multi-purpose irradiation facility. MYRRHA, a flexible fast spectrum research reactor (50-100 MWth) is conceived as an accelerator driven system (ADS), able to operate in sub-critical and critical modes. It contains a proton accelerator of 600 MeV, a spallation target and a multiplying core with MOX fuel, cooled by liquid lead-bismuth (Pb-Bi).
|
| ISOL@MYRRHA |
ISOL@MYRRHA: Fundamental physics at MYRRHA ISOL@MYRRHA intends to use part of the proton beam to produce intense high purity radioactive ion beams. These will be used for fundamental and applied research in various fields of science including nuclear, atomic and solid state physics, fundamental interactions and medical physics. ISOL@MYRRHA will mainly focus on precision experiments needing high statistics and accurate calibration and on experiments that hunt for very rare phenomena.
